The AR Run for the Fallen is a team of runners (active military) lead by a team of motorcyclists (former military) who embark on a 3-day mission of reflection of remembrance to honor Arkansas service members who have died while serving since 911.
Each mile is dedicated to one hero, a flag is carried at the beginning of each mile with the hero’s name, picture, and biography on it. At the end of the mile at each marker, (that has been pre-placed so the family will know the date and time we will honor their hero) all vehicles and traffic are stopped, we are called to attention. At this time, the hero’s information is announced, their card is then placed on the side of the road. The order of present arms is then given, we shout the hero’s name. example: “MASTER SARGENT, KEVIN NEIL MOREHEAD YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!!” The order of order arms is then given.
We hug the family, the next marker is given, and the next mile begins. 1155 times, 155 miles, 3 days. ONE MILE ONE HERO: this creates a 155-mile-long memorial along HWY 64 from Ozark, AR to Little Rock, AR ending at the state capitol on Sunday afternoon where all 155 names are read by gold stars family members after the playing of taps and a 21-gun salute.
